MMLL Field Care Procedures

General:

1. Responsibilities of All Team Managers

   1. Inspect the fields for any hazards and immediately report hazards to Safety Officer, Manager Rep, and President

   2. Remove grass/weeds from the infield dirt areas

   3. Remove weeds from the infield grass and outfield grass areas

   4. Keep infield grass lines edged

   5. Edge, trim, and keep clean all fence lines to include the outfield fence

   6. Pick up any trash and properly dispose of it

   7. If using the mower to cut grass, make sure to hose the blade area off after each field use to help prevent the spread of weeds to other fields

   8. Get your coaches and parents involved to help keep our fields looking great

Note:  Do NOT place garbage bags of weeds or grass/dirt clippings in the park trash cans.  Place the bags along the outside of the infield fence lines for pickup. 

Practice:

1. Responsibilities of All Team Managers

   1. Inspect the field for any hazards/trash and put out bases

   2. Put out portable pitcher’s mounds (Minors and above, if required)

   3. Put out pitching machine – Farm only

   4. Drag infield after practice

   5. Water infield

   6. Fill in divots in front of rubber and landing area.  Repack if necessary.

   7. Fill up generator with gas after use – Farm only

   8. Put away all equipment used, ensure lock boxes and padlocks are secured

Pre-Game:

1. Responsibilities of Home Team Managers

   1. Inspect the field for any hazards/trash and put out bases

   2. Drag infield if required

   3. Water infield

   4. Fill in divots in front of rubber and landing area.  Repack if necessary.

   5. Line field and batter boxes

   6. T-Ball/CAPS – Get 2 game balls from the Snack Bar

   7. Farm – Get 5 game balls from the Snack Bar

   8. Minors and above - Provide home plate umpire with 2 game balls from the Snack Bar

   9. Arrange scorekeeper (All teams must have a Scorekeeper)

   10. Put out pitching machine – Farm only

   11. Fill up generator with gas, if required – Farm only

2. Responsibilities of Both Managers

   1. Provide line-up card to scorekeeper and opposing manager

Post-Game:

1. Responsibilities of Visiting Team Managers

   1. Assist next games Home Team manager with preparing the field for play

2. Responsibilities of Both Managers

   1. Ensure all trash/equipment is removed from dugout and sweep 

Last Game:

i. Responsibilities of Visiting Team Managers
ii. Drag infield
iii. Water infield
iv. Fill in divots in front of rubber and landing area.  Repack if necessary.
v. Put away all equipment used, ensure lock boxes and padlocks are secured
vi. Fill up generator with gas – Farm only

2. Responsibilities of Both Managers

   1. Ensure all trash/equipment is removed from dugout and sweep
